St. Mary's Hospital Laboratory has partnered with
Dr. Oliver Ni, Dean Clinic Neurology, to perform Muscle and Nerve Biopsy analysis. Dr. Ni received his fellowship training in neuromuscular disorders, nerve and muscle pathology and electromyography (EMG) at Washington University in St. Louis. He is the principal investigator at the Dean Foundation for the Northeast Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Consortium.
St. Mary's Laboratory will process Muscle and Nerve samples every three weeks. As our volume grows, we anticipate increasing the frequency of these procedures to meet the needs of our customers. We offer a comprehensive panel including specific staining to assess for amyloid, glycogen, lipids, mitochondria and inflammation. Dr. Ni will dictate a final report that will be available in Epic and be available to discuss biopsy interpretation results should questions arise.
