Several weeks ago I woke up in the middle of the night with severe abdominal pains. My wife and I immediately went to the emergency room at St Mary’s Hospital. I was in excruciating pain and 17 hours after our initial visit underwent surgery to remove part of my small intestine which was blocked. The care I received from the emergency room staff, the team of physicians that operated on me, the nurses and doctors in the ICU, and the nurses in the regular ward was truly amazing. As a result of their unbelievable care, I recovered quickly and was released from the hospital after one week; and back at work less than two weeks after surgery. I was looked after by many nurses, each one was friendly, personable incredibly caring, compassionate, and concerned about ensuring I had a full recovery as quickly as possible. The staff at St Mary’s Hospital is a special breed of people who put others before themselves.
