My dad, Richard Hartwig, was born at St. Mary’s Hospital 85 years ago, on November 12th, 1927. He was born there while his mother was being treated for TB. The doctors said she would never come home again, but she did- she came home with my dad. He still talks about how his mother would watch the farmers and horses work in the fields out of her hospital room window. It's hard to believe how much the scenery has changed!
